The Nebraska Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (neRID) is a state affiliate chapter of the National Registry of
Interpreters for the Deaf (RID, Inc.). Established in 1964, the National RID is the only association dedicated to the
professional development and certification of sign language interpreters and transliterators. Members of the RID
and its affiliate chapters are obligated to a professional code of ethics for interpreters. neRID, reestablished in
1996, is a non-profit organization focusing on fostering the growth of Sign Language Interpreters and our
profession.
